A perfect stay

Stroll around the Halles

A very special ambience reigns on the Saint-Jean-de-Luz market. The alleys are brimming with the Basque terroir, between vegetable, butchers’ and cheese stalls and, of course, the exceptional fishmongers!

Taste the local cuisine

The Ostalapia Farm (Ahetze) offers an exceptional setting in the Basque countryside for a delicious meal of grilled meat. For fish, I suggest La Tantina de la Playa (Bidart). A renowned address for fresh fish.

Climb the Rhune

It will take about two hours to climb it on foot from the Olhette car park. Otherwise, the Rhune Train will take you to the summit to admire its breathtaking view. Not to be missed.

Walk the coastal path

From the hotel, walk up towards Guéthary. Along the path that follows the coastline, make sure you stop off at the unspoilt Lafitenia and Cenitz beaches.

Pop across the border

A jaunt in Spain is always full of surprises. On the way, stop off in a “Venta” for a simple but delicious lunch. The Burkaitz (Itxassou) is superb.

Explore Ciboure

Just cross the bridge and you’ve arrived in the neighbouring Ciboure. Its quays, pelota court and narrow streets are all charming. Before climbing up the Tour de Bordagain, make sure you lunch at Chez Mattin.

History with Louis XIV

The Sun King left an indelible mark on Saint-Jean-de-Luz with his marriage in 1660. Visit Saint-Jean-Baptiste church as well as house of Louis XIV and that of the Infanta. Treasures of the Basque heritage.
